Phillips endorsed by Ironworkers Local 86

Continues to show strong level of support from across King County

SEATTLE, WA – The Larry Phillips campaign today announced that he has been endorsed by Ironworkers Local 86. In total, Phillips’ candidacy has received more endorsements than any other candidate for King County Executive.

“One of Larry’s top priorities is creating jobs and making the county a partner in economic development,” said Scott Whiteaker, campaign manager for Larry Phillips. “The economy is on a lot peoples’ minds, and that shared priority is why we’ve seen such a strong level of support from people and organizations all across King County.”

Larry is the only candidate to demonstrate significant levels of support from East King County, even surpassing his two opponents who call the Eastside home. Mayor Frisinger of Issaquah is joining the mayors of Enumclaw, Maple Valley and Black Diamond in supporting Phillips. City council members from Redmond and Issaquah have also endorsed him. Phillips has also recently picked up the sole endorsement from the 31st District Democrats on the campaign trail.

Mayor Ava Frisinger of Issaquah said “I have had the opportunity to work closely with Larry on solving issues such as the county budget, salmon recovery, natural resource preservation, human services, and transportation. He genuinely cares about our King County and will bring needed energy to the Executive’s office.”

Phillips’ connections to the Eastside comes from his leadership on regional issues including preserving the King County Fair, increasing rural economic development opportunities, pushing for Sound Transit 2, working with community leaders and protecting the Cedar River watershed.

Supporters from across King County will join Phillips this Saturday (June 6, 2009) for his annual Salmon Bake, which also serves as his campaign kickoff. The event will be held at the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center, Discovery Park, 3801 W Government Way, Seattle, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please call 206-383-0766 to RSVP.
